III. Veiled

Lover, can we not remember?

Canst Thou not remain?

Are the trysting moments

Utterly in vain?

  Though the eyes be blinded

  Canst Thou not be seen

  With the inner vision

  If the heart be clean?

Though the ears be tempted,

Canst Thou not be heard

If the heart be ready

To receive Thy word?

  Though the senses wander;

  Though the mind may stray;

  If the heart be true to Thee

  Canst Thou stay away?
