If you do this with the attitude of a child, looking to its parents to see what [sic - they] would be happy with, then Baba will guide you and His grace will be upon you.

Dear Adi,

Since my return from India, we have been holding regular Baba meetings in _____. It is populated by about 4,500 people and for such a small populace has a high percentage of Baba lovers, about 12 - 14. Recently there has been much charge and interest in Baba and there are many more on the fringe who are interested in Baba. Last night we held a meeting where we each brought someone we thought might be receptive to Baba and His message. . . The meeting was smooth and loving.

I have one question I hope you may clarify with anything Baba said or inferred. The question is based on the following incident. In brief there were some in the meeting who are "seeking" and have regular meditation meetings. Among them was one who is connected to some California teacher called John Roberts and is apparently into auras, reading past lives and all the other illusory and binding hoaxes. She invited some of is to attend their Monday night meeting. Intuitively I felt that this would be unwise, perhaps because I felt that "her" particular ways would be "un-pure." My other friends argue otherwise. They say I am closed and unloving. They feel that when a group of seekers gather together, supposedly in the name of Love, that there is no harm.

I know what Baba had to say about seeking out other gurus, real or false, but I do not know what he might have related re: group functions that are not direct BABA meetings as "guests" and where the dangers night lie. Again I repeat I have misgivings about such gatherings although I know that it might be an opportune time to repeat Baba's Message, etc.

Please clarify anyway you can. We are all looking forward to a reply and any information you might give.

I received your letter of 24th Oct. on 4th Nov.

There is nothing which Baba suggested or instructed or ordered by way of meditation (except in some special cases which He knew), to be regularly practiced by His lovers, much less as you say "hoaxes'' about auras and reading past lives and all that nonsense. Nature does not want you to dabble into past lives, which will take one more into wilderness. Nature wants you to love God and love man, to be released from illusion. This would be the only aim in life, and Baba provides a ready Presence in Himself to get a release through love.

If someone thinks that it is unspiritual and "closed" and unloving to this mad children's play of auras and past life findings, then he will be called singularly unloving not to accede to the request of a loving child who happens to get hold of a razor and wants to cut his own throat and someone else's, by not becoming "closed" in his action and helping him to do it.
