relevant to someone else. On the other hand, some of the things that were irrelevant to others were quite relevant to me.

One day, for instance, as we were walking up the hill with Baba, from `Lower' Meherabad to Meherabad ‘on the hill', I was deeply impressed with how similar this was to what it must have been like walking over the hills with Jesus. This is quite a statement to make. This is the twentieth century. You say, This can't happen!' But when you are with Baba you see that it is happening. One of the passages from the New Testament crossed my mind. You all say yes, Lord, but you do not do the things I tell you." (This was my remembrance of Luke: 6:46) Baba, who was a few feet ahead and to the left of me, gave me a quick glance. I had also been greatly concerned about Baba dropping his body - he had told us that this might happen very soon - and I wondered what our relationship to him would be after he did drop his body.

In a few minutes we were seated in the room where we gathered almost daily to spend a couple of hours with Baba. Baba was seated on a small sofa, I sat on the opposite side of the room. About sixteen other western men were there too, in a large circle around Baba. Baba didn't look at me as he began to `talk', by means of the alphabet board, about his physical end. He concluded by saying, “... I am the Ancient One, and you will all love me more and more after my body is dropped, and will see me as I really am…" Then, out of the blue he said, “You all say, `Yes, Baba,' but do not do." I was astonished, and thought, "How can you fathom this Being?" Just as I thought this, Baba said, "My ways are so unfathomable that sometimes I too cannot fathom them." So, what can you do?

This happened in 1954, when some seventeen western men had the great privilege of being Baba's guests at Meherabad 'on the hill' for three incredible weeks. When we first arrived there, it was about 10:00 P.M. Baba wasn't there at the time, but this is where he had been staying for years, and the place was so vibrant with his love radiation that the very stones seemed to radiate his love. I was reminded of that New Testament scene wherein some of Jesus' disciples were loudly exclaiming about his wonderful Presence. Some Pharisees said Jesus should rebuke the disciples, but he declared, that if they had held their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. I felt that this was actually taking place. The very stones were crying out, or radiating, who he was, what he was. One could feel it from the very stones.

We had beautiful times with Baba there. One day he took us with him on a visit to the nearby village of Arangaon. Around two thousand people live in this village, which dates back to the sixteenth century. Everyone in the village loves Baba, and his visit was a great occasion for them. They crowded the narrow streets and surged around Baba as he moved among them, putting garlands of sweet
