my effects. Opening the cover, there were the words, Baba - May 24, 1932. In a flash, another date May 24, 1952 came to my mind, the date the accident had occurred in Oklahoma when I was driving Baba and four of his close disciples. It had been a catastrophic occurrence, yet, despite serious injuries, all eventually recovered.

"I do not know fully the meaning and deeper significance of the accident which happened twenty years to the day, May 24, but I do know that Baba knew then and now. Through the experience of sharing Baba's suffering to a degree, I feel my life, instead of being nearly cut off, was extended for a purpose. The gift of the little flower was grace from the Master to be treasured in the heart.

“The few incidences that I was privileged to witness in New York in 1932 gave me insight into some of Baba's ways of working. Both he and Margaret never lost a chance of flanking him, and fell over each other to prevent either of the Schloss's getting near him. I felt sorry for them after a time, and their efforts to prevent people getting near Baba were both futile and pathetic.

"We passed by way of Texas to California and the weather began to get warm. Before arriving we were all able to have shower baths on the train which was very refreshing after the heat and grime of the journey. We arrived at Pasadena on Sunday at 8 A.M. It was a glorious day.

"Baba put on a white suit and looked most radiant and happy. We were met by a large party of people headed by Mark Jones and his wife Priscilla. There was also his sister and her husband and a cousin of theirs, Celeste Domola, who became most devoted to Baba during this visit.

"Mark Jones was an old friend and acquaintance of Malcolm Schloss and it was at his house that we were to stay during the Hollywood visit. I was not drawn to either of them, but I was to Celeste Domola, a most charming and intelligent woman, very sympathetic. Having collected our mountain of luggage, we
