Mata also was in the procession in another car which followed Baba's. The procession started at about 8:15 and Baba and Godavari arrived in the Meeting-pandal by about 8:45.

As soon as Baba and Godavari Mata arrived, all the Sahavasis managed to take their places in the Meeting-pandal and there were loud acclamations of "Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai" and "Godavari Mata Ki Jai."

The first was a song in English by some ladies who sang: "Happy birthday to you, Baba,. . . May you live many years!"

Godavari Mata was seated on another chair (throne) to the right side of Baba. The villagers arrived with vessels of water brought from Godavari river (from Toka, a place about 45 miles from Meherabad), having walked the previous day and night and arrived directly at the camp. Their devotion and faith was a touching scene!

Some devotees had brought the sacred water from Ganges river (in hermetically sealed receptacles) and the same was also poured into the large receptacle. Baba washed His own feet Himself. Milk, honey, and rosewater perfumes were also used. The water was collected in a basin-like large plate and not a drop was allowed to fall on the ground or be wasted. The water that touched Baba's feet was collected thus and mixed with the unused water and distributed as "Prasad." It is called in India "Charanamrit" (the nectar of the lotus or sacred feet of God). As each went up to the dais to have Baba's' "darshan," each was to take a little of this "Charanamrit”; Baba asked each to apply the same to his or her forehead, and distinctly and repeatedly asked the Sahavasis not to drink it or taste it. The significance of this direction of Baba was known only to Baba and none dared to question him or ask for an explanation. Usually, such Charanamrit given as "prasad" in temples and shrines and at other Saints' places may be tasted or sipped. While Baba was doing "Pada-pooja " (the worship of the feet, devotionally called "lotus feet”), there were Bhajan (devotional songs). Baba then announced the program of the day, particularly, the forenoon. It was as follows:
