Every day, Baba arrived from Meherazad, Pimpalgaon, at about 8 in the morning and stayed in the camp till about 6:30 in the evening. He was brought in a car and a few yards from the camp, lovers waited on the roadside to greet Him and to receive Him; while returning, several would follow His car to a good distance and wave farewell for the day, with loud acclamations of "Hail Avatar Meher Baba." As soon as Baba got down from the car, he would either walk a short distance with the aid of walking-sticks held in each hand (not crutches), or be carried by two men seated on a chair, to the dais.

Throughout the Sahavas, Baba emphasized that this Sahavas was essentially for the ladies and that the men, though they were permitted to join, had only a secondary place in all the programs.

Baba arrived in the Meeting-pandal ) at about 8:40 A.M. He said: "There are 5 days of Sahavas. One should not be hasty and try to hurry. You all have to laugh and be very happy all these days here."

Baba's upholstered chair on the dais was covered with a delightful canopy—a velvet coloured colored umbrella—a royal decoration over a throne in India. On either side of Baba's chair on the dais were hung writings by the lovers of Baba:

SRI AVATAR MEHER BABA'S CONGREGATION, MEHERABAD,
from 22-2-1958 to 26-2-1958

Baba is the soul of souls,

The Beloved of the gods,

The Life of His lovers, and

He is the slave of His dear ones.
—Meher Lovers
