separated the front row to seat the group singers (devotional or "Bhajan" singers) with their musical accompaniments. A specially decorated upholstered chair was set apart for Baba to sit on the dais. The entire congregation squatted on the carpets spread on the floor. Baba's interpreter (Mr. Eruch Jessawala), the translators and a few important persons sat at the feet of Baba. Prominent among those was one Yogi Shuddhananda Bharathi—a well-known and revered saint and savant of South India, of high attainments and well-versed in many languages (foreign and Indian) who has himself a considerable following in India.

Large-size portraits of the five Perfect Masters (viz., Sai Baba, Hazrat Baba Jan, Upasni Maharaj, Tajuddin Baba and Narayan Maharaj) were hung above Baba's seat. Placards in bold type containing special sayings* given by Baba for the occasion were displayed in several parts of the Meeting-pandal and the prayer hall (where Baba met the groups and the workers) in English and the Indian languages (Telugu, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi). Included were sayings of Hafiz:

"Befitting a fortunate slave, carry out every command of the Master without any question of 'why' and 'what.’"

"About what you hear from the Master, never say it is wrong, because my dear, the fault lies in your own incapacity to understand Him."

"I am slave of the Master who has released me from Ignorance; whatever my Master does is of the highest benefit to all concerned."

The following was the general program of the Sahavas as announced on notice boards, but actually, each day, Baba commenced much earlier and ended later than the scheduled time and there were minor changes made by Baba to suit the changed circumstances and the wishes of the Sahavasis. Some programs took much longer than expected.
