Baba went all through it. Emerging on the terrace, his fingers began their strange "signalling," signs of his inner work.

A brief visit to Don's new house elicited Baba's advice to sell it. Their all had an al fresco lunch at the tastefully furnished Frey house. The Freys were amazed to discover their Javanese serving boy, Robert, knew of Baba—his whole family knew of Baba being in the world. He was in seventh heaven at the chance to meet the Master and wait on him, preparing specially for him an oriental dish of rice and shrimps, which Baba enjoyed.

On the return to the lodge, the group of Margaret's dancers had their long-promised chance to perform for Baba. Originally scheduled as a "private" show, many more squeezed in as usual, one even using the ruse of a telegram for Baba. Baba enjoyed "The Black Bottom" and a Highland fling by Tex Hightower and Bunty Kelly. Marie Adair's solo "Dance of the Sun Maiden" followed. Then Baba asked Peter Saul what he was going to do. Peter insisted he was not a solo performer; nevertheless, at Baba's bidding he went for his shoes, and danced alone for him; he was rewarded, as were the others, by Baba's warm embrace. Baba was happy and relaxed, saying he would just like to go on watching dancing like this. He posed with Margaret and the group for Charmian's camera. Later, in his suite, Baba gave the dancers a few minutes alone with him. So many times Baba gave to one, two, or a few, the chance to be with him intimately as our hearts yearned to be, giving us precious messages. He told one boy to "Love me more and more." The boy said he felt that if he had real love, he could accept all suffering.

Baba told another: "I am an innocent child. And I will make you innocent too." He said to a newcomer: "Know well that I am in everyone. I'm not just this body. I am the Ocean. If you love Me intensely, then you will find Me everywhere." To one who had no family ties, he said: "You don't know how lucky you are to be unattached." To three sisters who came he said, "Stay pure in heart." One girl told Baba someone had said to her Baba was not her Master. Baba replied: "Masters, masters!. Masters have nothing to do with it! I am your God".

There were many unexpected meetings in San Francisco. One young fireman came with a gift of fruit and asked Baba "How can I open my heart more, love more?" Baba gave him a midnight meditation of saying Baba's name 100 times' He was very grateful. He said that in the crescendo of the fire siren he felt the exaltation of God.
