too high with freight, and in the end, a breakdown of the car itself, to make the 120 miles. It was extremely hot. But Baba evidently had His nazar* on us, for Nosser’s brother, Huma, drove by and saw our plight, turned back to help, and after much tinkering jumped on a truck to reach some place for a taxi for us. At the Dadachanji apt. I again had dinner with Arnavaz, Goher's sister Katy, and Meheru. Arnavaz made the time go quickly by showing me albums of old photos of Baba, and to make my enchantment complete, the minstrel singer who sang for Baba when He was there, came by and sang some beautiful songs in the street below our window, including "Begin the Beguine." I could persuade none of these dear people to let me go out to the airport alone and let them go to bed at a decent hour; I must be garlanded for good luck and they stayed with me to the bitter end, which proved to be 1:30 A.M. of Sunday morn before my plane left. When I reached Dhahran again, it was a cold windy morning around seven o'clock, and I felt as if I had been away a century.

Along with Baba's and the girls' and Mandali's love, I dare to send my own and I that these lines may find welcome among you.

Most sincerely,

LETTER FROM ERUCH

Meherazad, 14th November 1971

Dear S _____: Jai Baba!

P______ spoke to me about your interest in reading Meher Baba's Discourses and in different forms of meditation.

Meditation has to serve but one purpose — to steady the mind of the aspirant, to make him think less of his self, and eventually to make him forget totally his false self on the contrary, meditation were to remind one of his/her self, the purpose of meditation is not at all served. One has to beware not to get attached to any form of meditation, meditation would then become a ritual!

Meher Baba has revealed to us who lived with Him, that true meditation is to remember Him constantly in all our everyday life-acts, whether we eat or drink; feast or fast; attend to nature's call or take bath; whether we are busy in office or with business, or are relaxing in bed; whether we are meditating at a place or are making merry; ‘sleeping' or moving about, we should always think of Him and have Him always as our constant companion. There is no other better way of meditation than this! This is spontaneous meditation. There is no set time, place, posture, principle or austerity for this meditation where every breath is dedicated to His remembrance. Eventually we totally forget ourself and act and live by His grace alone. Blessed indeed is such a life!

God is infinitely compassionate; time and again He manifests as Man for the sake of His Infinite Love and to make His love more tangible to mankind. How blessed we all are to have lived on this earth at the time of the Advent of the God-Man! We are truly blessed to have come within the orbit of the Love of the God-Man. Meher Baba told us that even after He were to drop His physical Body, the spiritual atmosphere of the Advent lingers on for a couple of centuries; and those who come directly or indirectly within the orbit of His Love and lead a life in His remembrance, even though they have not seen Him in physical form, are equally blessed as those who have seen Him in physical form. They need not go outside of the orbit of His Love in search of a living Perfect Master, for whether they do so or not, the Avataric Atmosphere of the Advent of the God-man reigns supreme for quite some time and all without exception, aspirants on the Path and the Masters alike are at the Mercy of His Grace and Blessings.
