Incidents at Poona ― 1960
(from notes by Dr. H. Bharucha)

drawing of Baba's chair with His photo sitting in it-Poona

**One day at Poona, a man came to take Baba’s darshan. He told Baba of his family circumstances, and how his family opposed him for being a Baba lover. Baba conveyed him, "It does not matter if your mind tries to deceive you, but be careful that your hands don't deceive you, and you let go My daaman."

**One of the mandali asked Baba if He would attend the thread ceremony of his grand daughter. Baba conveyed, "I have come to do away with ceremonies, so how can I attend them?" But after some days Baba Himself gave the "Sadra and Kasti," (the things that are given to the child in the thread ceremony, after which he is considered a bonafide Zoroastrian) to three sons of an old Baba lover. Of course the ritualistic prayers, etc., were skipped, and after the Parvardigar Prayer was repeated, He handed over the two things to the boys. In celebration of this event, the mandali enjoyed a good feed! The big joke of it was that the parents of these boys do not put on these things, and so the boys could not be expected to put them on. The very next day the youngest of the boys lost his Kasti!

**One of the oldest lovers of Baba was in a tight financial fix. Baba daily enquired about his troubles and took an active interest in them. Still the old lover continued to be very gloomy. Baba then one day said to him, "The whole world is a big zero. I, as God, still take so much interest in your affairs; then where is the need of worrying?" Baba, though being the Highest of the High, has to take care of the minutest details of His lovers.

**One day on our return journey from a visit, I was sitting with Baba in His car. He suddenly said to me, "Even if the sky and earth should come together, do not let go My daaman."

**One day a Poona lover brought his newly born son to Guruprasad to be named by Baba. Baba was informed about the arrival of this lover. Before the man was asked to come in, Baba said to us, "These fellows go on producing children and give Me the trouble of naming them!" Baba then named the boy Meher Prakash. Prakash means light. He then said, "This baby is very fortunate; he had connection with Me in past life." To be in the Avatar's hands soon after birth is very fortunate indeed!

**Someone brought a magazine which contained many photos of the so-called saints in India. They are usually termed as "Maharaj" over here. Baba surveyed the whole magazine from cover to cover. On one page Baba's photo was also given, but it was not give in the prominence it deserved. On the contrary, it was mixed up with these bogus saints' pictures. The editor of the magazine was present with us. He was not to be blamed as he did not understand the status of Baba. His mistake was explained which he understood at once. With the exception of one or two photos which Baba praised, Baba jokingly remarked that the picture of a farmer on the last page was the best of all. Thus He put the value of these bogus saints as even less than that of an ordinary farmer. I asked Baba at that time, "What is the status of a Maharaj on the spiritual path? In God Speaks this term has not even been mentioned." Baba said, "No status at all." These
