me. You are asked by me to kill me. And you love me more than your life. But you will lovingly kill me for my work.

Even Arjuna could not be like Peter. Krishna ordered him to kill all of his brothers and relatives for his work. He hesitated. Then Krishna showed him his Universal Body and made him kill.

You Judas, love me very much. I turn the key and you go against me for my work You do not go against me of your own accord. I make you go against me, to tell people all about me. You do it willingly, knowing that people hearing you would beat me and hang me.

All this means love, faith, and sacrifice. If you do what I ask, willingly, you really love me. If you are made to do it, you love me a little less. But if you do not do it, it all comes to today's "mango business".

God's grace makes you love me. My Grace makes you One with me.

Talk at Manzil Bungalow, Nasik, June 8, 1937

All that smells good is not good.

When you can direct the mind then there is no worry. But this is very difficult. After all what does it matter?

When the mind stops in consciousness there is unfathomable bliss. One cannot describe that bliss. It is not complete realization but one step before it. Mind works fast. Uncontrolled mind plays havoc with one's soul, but (to D.) your uncontrolled mind plays havoc with my hair!

Can one not die laughing? (Someone asked, Shall we die laughing?)

If the mind gets worse, the body suffers too. It is not a case of the mind being upset but it is the form that deep love sometimes takes.

My mind is like the ocean, bad and good and all the filth and good of the universe absorbed in it. You think good, I absorb it. You think bad, I absorb it. Like water in a small pool, if filth gets into it, it pollutes the water. But if these good and bad thoughts become absorbed in the ocean they are just washed away because the ocean is so tremendous. Your limited mind becomes stagnant with a few bad thoughts, but even universal bad thoughts cannot affect my ocean-like mind.

Questions Baba Answered

Q. Why was Jesus not married?

A. Every Avatar adopts a particular aspect of His time. He adapts and embodies His mode of working according to the attitudes of the people most prevalent.

The outstanding weakness that marked the attitude of the people in the time of Jesus was pomp, cruelty and pride; and to do away with that and set an example, He based His working or mode of life on simplicity, humility and suffering. And so there was no necessity for Him to marry.

In the time of Mahomet lust dominated in the minds of men, so much so that nearly every man used to have intercourse with hundreds of women. Mahomet, marking the point, made it lawful for every follower of His to have only a certain number of wives and Himself married seven. Had He, like Jesus, not married then it would have been deemed essential to make it lawful for His followers to remain unmarried, but nobody in that case would have followed Him. It would have been worse than useless to come to nil from numerous wives so He fixed the number from scores to seven.

The people were too much steeped in materialism in the age of Buddha, therefore, stressing the nothingness of Maya, He set an example of true renunciation, and left His wife and children. He founded His system on renunciation and sanyas.
