side to side, the depth of His feeling registered strongly on His face and He was perspiring profusely. Great power of love and compassion manifested in His expression. It was a picture that I can only term "painfully beautiful"—I have no other interpretation or explanation for it.

Soon after music was played and interpreted everyone returned to the Hall. After staying awhile we went out in front of the building and Baba called for us to play a game of cards. I call it "Baba's game"—but the name given it is "Laris" from the card game "La Risque." There are 6 hands―3 against 3; the losing team must rub their noses on the table (this is supposed to be played on the ground—and the nose rubbed on the ground). About the 6th hand or so, the team I was on was winning most of the time. Baba saw my hand, found it to be good, so He exchanged hands with me and played it. He won—but I had to rub my nose on the table! I said: "Baba, I won but still I lost:" Lovingly he touselled my hair. At this point I realized the significance of Baba's making the game—and the result joyful. It left nothing unbalanced for the personal ego to be elated about.

Later on I had a long conversation with Eruch about Baba and the meaning of His present long seclusion. The effect of His work during this seclusion shows upon His physical being—a great power locked up, or bottled up . . . and the present terrific crisis of the world will force The Word out of Him . . . not by His personal will but by the Divine Will itself. The Word . There is nothing that can be done about it. It must BE.

I am still reflecting over my experiences and impressions I had in the presence of Beloved Baba, and trying to understand at least a very small part of the significance of Baba's work and His purposes for this prolonged seclusion period in conjunction with the present world crisis and our behavior upon the stage of life, staggering with the innumerable accumulated tendencies of humanity. In such existing conditions God compels Himself to reinstall His purpose in His Creation. One should study God Speaks with deep feeling and serious thought from which much revelation of wisdom and understanding will come to the heart and mind of the inquiring one. Then alone can one have a glimpse of the reason for the appearance of the Avatar and the suffering He imposes upon His temporary physical body. How can we even imagine the magnitude of His compassion for His creatures?
