On March 31st Rano Gayley cabled: “We fly eighteenth arrive twentieth stop Mandali fly twentieth arrive twenty-second stop Show Don all cables and letters stop Baba's seclusion must be so arranged as to keep him free for recuperation stop. From seventh April cable care Meherji Bombay.”

From that moment work at the Center quickened. Elizabeth was kept busy arranging visitors' visas for Baba and party and seeing to the necessary sponsoring. Baba intimated He was staying one year. Norina, meanwhile, was busy with the practical side of arrangements. Baba was bringing with him a party of fifteen men and women. From his eastern women disciples came Mehera, Mani, Meheru and Goher, and Rano Gayley and myself of the westerners. From his eastern disciples, Sarosh, Adi Sr., Dr. Nilu, Gustadji, Meherjee, and of the westerners, Dr. Donkin. Of his old disciples present in the west, Margaret Craske, Jean Adriel, Delia de Leon and Ruano Bogislav were to accompany Baba and party on the train to Myrtle Beach and be with him during his seclusion period. Malcolm Schloss was invited to stay from May 10th to 17th. Baba also asked to see Agnes Baron and Johnny Cooke for two or three days between the 3rd and the 17th.

All was ready for Baba's arrival April 20, 1952. He left Bombay on Friday night the 18th and arrived by plane in New York 19th April, stayed one night in New York and arrived at Myrtle Beach April 20th. Baba made no stops in London or Paris, his intention being to visit there on his return flight. The flight was good up to Paris, but high winds prevailed from then on and I for one arrived somewhat green at Idlewild Airport. Baba had given us permission to take whatever was served on the menu. Under the delusion that champagne kept off air-sickness, I gulped down the contents of a pint bottle served with the dinner, with dire results.
