asked to obtain it and bring it to Baba. John Bruford then read aloud the Prayer; this beautiful prayer stirred our hearts and Baba said we were forgiven all our failures up to that moment.

 

We were soon dismissed for lunch, and groups were happily discussing the wonderful experience of meeting Meher Baba again, or others walked alone pondering the experience that Meher Baba could stir their hearts with rare joy. After lunch we again assembled in the meeting hall; we rose to greet Baba as he returned and received his loving glance. Baba said he noticed that a lot of work had been done on the place to make it ready in such a short time. He asked Francis for the names of all who had helped with the work on Kiel Mountain. Francis said he and Roy Baulch were the first workers, then he named each of the others and each stood for a moment as his or her name was called. Baba then explained about the Sahavas in India; how Pendu, who was responsible for all arrangements, did not know till five days before if the Sahavas in India would be held. They had 1,600 people at the Sahavas, and Pendu did an enormous job in, having all the arrangements completed on time. When Baba told Dr. Kenmore from America the day the Sahavas would commence, Dr. Kenmore told Baba not to embrace or let people embrace Him; but nevertheless crowds of people at the Sahavas embraced Baba. Baba held the Sahavas in February in India for devotees only.

 

Baba then said (speaking through the gestures of his hands, and interpreted in words by Eruch), that he would give the discourse on obedience that he gave in America. He said a circular had been sent out before the Sahavas letting people know that they should obey Baba implicitly during the days of the Sahavas. Francis then started to read the Discourse*, and Baba interrupted every now and then to explain it further. He asked it we could obey him during the Sahavas and from the 10th June to the 10th July; and all who agreed to obey should raise their hand. He asked all to consider well what obedience meant, did we understand? When asked if we would obey Baba, nearly all raised their hands; Baba then asked those who could not obey him to come forward. Two boys and one man came forward. Baba asked had they understood the terms of coming to the Sahavas. The younger boy said he had not understood, and the other two said they were not really not sure whether they could obey him or not. Baba asked the mother of the boys if she had explained to her sons the
