As the waiters quietly brought each one a glass of grape juice and placed the bread on the table, one could not help thinking of this new supper with the Beloved in living "holy communion" with Him. We all stood and drank a silent toast to Him. Baba just touched His lips to His glass. Fortunately, the tables were slanted in His direction so all could see Him clearly. No one spoke much to his neighbor . . . Baba was the main repast!

Feeling the pull of all our hearts, it was not long before Baba, with His unfailing graciousness (as the Divine Guest Who is always the Host), had risen and was walking among the tables, greeting His lovers and devotees here and there with a loving touch, a smile, or a tender look. For many, as He knew, this would be their last chance to see Him before He left the city for the remainder of the tour. The whole room was hushed as every eye followed Baba's quickly-moving figure from table to table. Necks craned to see Him better, faces tilted hopefully forward as He passed by.

When He had toured the room as He wished, making all of us feel no one is nearer or further from His Love, and was seated again, Marion took the microphone and formally welcomed Baba and His mandali, reading some warm welcome cables from other groups scattered over the world. One was from Dr. Deshmukh in India; another from the English group in London; one from the five Freys in San Francisco; and another from "Norina-kit and Frank," still in Myrtle Beach, saying, "Welcome Beloved Messenger of Love." The Hollywood Group expressed the feelings of all:

"TO THE AWAKENER SHRI MEHER BABA A GREETING FROM THE LOS ANGELES HOLLYWOOD AREA ON THIS OCCASION. WE HAPPILY AND GRATEFULLY JOIN IN SPIRIT WITH YOU, WITH ALL THOSE PRESENT IN THE ONE ONENESS. WE FEEL IT VERY FORTUNATE OUR HAVING BABA VISIT THESE SHORES ONCE MORE. WE LOOK EAGERLY  FORWARD TO THE PHYSICAL MEETING ALSO. WE SEND OUR LOVE."

And from the British and European Group: "WE ALL UNITE WITH YOU IN LOVING TRIBUTE TO THE BELOVED BABA."

Souvenir programs had been sent to many Baba-lovers throughout the world to open with us at the moment we sat down to dinner, thus tying hearts together around the world in love for the Beloved.
